Volda kyrkje

Church of Volda parish in the Norwegian church. Halkjelsvik, no center in the urban settlement Volda, was a church all broadcast year 1200. In 1400 the number stood here a stave church. She was extended several times, until it was demolished in 1858 and replaced by a new cruciform church in wood. This was one of the largest wooden church in the country. Ho fire the night of 7 April 1929. Nothing of the partly very old furnishings were saved.

The present church was completed in 1932. After church fire in 1929 became the \ debated whether a would build in wood or stone. It was decided to build a new church in stone. She is raised by the drawings of architect Arnstein Arneberg. The rough hewn Gråsteinen the trench is taken about one mile west of the church. Inside was built a detached firmament in jarnbetong. The church is 43.5 meters long and 16 meters wide. Tver ship is 29 meters. Observatory under the vault is 11 meters. Mønehøgda 15 meters. Height of the spire is 40 meters. Meister during its construction was J. Strømsheim from Sykkylven.

The church was consecrated on 1 May 1932 by Bishop A. Fleischer. The choir is adorned by a freskomåling Hugo Mohr. The picture, which at the time was the largest freskoarbeidet in Norway was finished for Christmas in 1932.
